Privacy Policy — FocusLock

FocusLock is a Chrome extension whose single purpose is to let you define website access rules: Allow, Block, or Lock (PIN-gated).

Data we store

FocusLock stores the following information only on your device using Chrome’s extension storage APIs:

• Website access rules (domain, rule type, subdomain preference)
• Extension settings (enforcement on/off, Strict mode, optional PIN session timeout)
• Optional per-rule active schedule windows (local device time)
• Optional local enforcement statistics (aggregate counters only — no URLs or page content; can be disabled in Settings)
• A hashed PIN verifier (never your PIN in plaintext)
• Temporary unlock-session state for Lock rules (cleared when you quit Chrome, choose “Lock now”, or a session timeout expires)

We do not persist full page URLs or page content. Hostnames may appear in extension UI (for example on blocked or locked interstitial pages) but are not stored as a history log.

Data we do not collect

FocusLock does not:

• Create accounts or require sign-in
• Sync data to a remote server
• Send analytics, advertising, or telemetry
• Read the content of web pages
• Store website passwords or payment details
• Sell or share user data with third parties

Why permissions are used

Permissions are used solely to save your rules and enforce Allow / Block / Lock when you navigate to websites you choose. Website access permission is requested when you enable enforcement or add rules—not for unrelated browsing. See the Chrome Web Store listing permission justifications for details.

Incognito

FocusLock applies rules in incognito windows only if you enable “Allow in incognito” for this extension on `chrome://extensions`. Otherwise incognito browsing is unaffected.

PIN and recovery

Your PIN is processed locally with a one-way hash (PBKDF2). There is no cloud recovery. If you forget your PIN, you can reset local PIN and rules from the Options page (this clears rule data on that device).

Changes

If data handling practices change, we will update this policy and disclose the change in the Chrome Web Store listing / extension UI as required.
